A thriving town whose past stems from the Mining industry of tin and copper. Many historic buildings are in the â€˜Crossâ€˜, the statue of Richard Trevithick inventor, the Library, and Fire Station now the Museum or take a look at the â€™Pink Chapelâ€™ Methodist Church, or tiered fountain all are worth seeing. The pre Norman church of St Martin and St Meriadoc has splendid arches, fifteen stained glass windows, a 60â€™ tower with eight bells and a 15th Century carved pulpit, what more could there be, perhaps a painted copy of the letter by King Charles thanking the Cornish people for their loyalty during the Civil War.
