A thriving town whose past stems from the Mining industry of tin and copper. Many historic buildings are in the ‘Cross‘, the statue of Richard Trevithick inventor, the Library, and Fire Station now the Museum or take a look at the ’Pink Chapel’ Methodist Church, or tiered fountain all are worth seeing. The pre Norman church of St Martin and St Meriadoc has splendid arches, fifteen stained glass windows, a 60’ tower with eight bells and a 15th Century carved pulpit, what more could there be, perhaps a painted copy of the letter by King Charles thanking the Cornish people for their loyalty during the Civil War.
