Tarbert’s harbour on Loch Fyne, Argyll, is synonymous with a warm welcome and safe mooring for mariners. Fishing fleets and yachts both seek refuge in the sheltered harbour – one of the few natural harbours in Scotland, while the village, famed for its seafood and Royal Castle, welcomes visitors in search of a relaxing stay on the picturesque Kintyre Peninsula. The Royal Castle is testament to Tar-bert’s historically strategic location; covered in ivy and now in ruins, it was built to stand guard over the area by Robert The Bruce in 1326.
