Wembley is world-famous as the home of English football, with the Stadium hosting some of the most awe-inspiring events in sporting, musical and social history - from England's 1966 World Cup soccer victory and Bob Geldof's Live Aid concert in 1985 to appearances by such luminaries as Nelson Mandela and Pope John Paul II. The new national Stadium, rising from the ashes of the old and dearly beloved Twin Towers, is a world-class venue befitting the 21st Century, and it is expected to play some part in the 2012 Olympics.
