The village of Upton Lovell lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Wyle Valley near the A36. The village overlooks water meadows and has the Salisbury Plains as a backdrop. The area enjoyed prosperity from wool and the village pub, the Prince Leopold, was once a general store serving the needs of the industry. The pub is named after the fourth son of Queen Victoria. Her youngest the Prince Leopold, Duke of Albany frequented the inn when he lived nearby in the village of Boyton. You probably won't find royalty in the pub nowadays but you can get a drink, a meal and accommodation in a delightful riverside location.
