Thorpe Market is a very small village on the edge of Poppyland, about three miles from the resort of Overstrand. For such a small place the village has good communications, standing as it does on the A149 coastal road that starts in Yarmouth and runs all the way through North Norfolk to Kingâ€™s Lynn. Somewhat improbably it still has a railway service through Gunton Station a mile from the village proper â€“ sited for the convenience of Lord Suffield, a major investor in the East Norfolk Railway, near his residence, Gunton Hall.
