Stepps is a small historic town in North Lanarkshire in Scotland, a north-eastern suburb of Glasgow situated to the north of Garthamlock. The settlement was originally part of the Garnkirk Estate which developed with the arrival of the railway c1831; in 1924 the town officially changed its name to Stepps, adopting the same name as the station. The town currently consists of Stepps Village, Cardowan, Stepps Hill and Millerston. Stepps was once a mining town with the Cardowan Colliery and is associated with brass founding and whiskey blending.
