Stanton St. John is a village in Oxfordshire, located 5 miles from the centre of Oxford. The history of Stanton St. John is closely tied to the ownership of much of the parish by New College, one of Oxford University's oldest colleges. The village is about 2.5 miles south of an area of low lying land called Otmoor, which is being encouraged to re-flood, as it used to centuries ago, to produce one of Britain's largest inland bird sanctuaries. Stanton's main facilities include the Holford Centre, the village shop and post office, two inns; The Star and the Talk House and a cricket ground.
