St Briavels is a charming rural village positioned within the stunning location of the Forest Of Dean, in the county of Gloucestershire, and is home to nearly seven hundred people. This ancient village nudges the borders of England and Wales and shelters behind an impressive moated Norman Castle which has played host to King John, Henry I and II, and it was also the administrative centre of the Royal Forest, today its more likely to welcome younger visitors as it is now a Youth Hostel. This historic village was renowned for its mining locally in Medieval times, and of course its forestry production supplying timbers for fleets of ships for the great explorers and sea farers across the centuries.
