Located in north Northumberland near Berwick-upon-Tweed, Spittal is a small seaside resort at the mouth of the river Tweed, a short distance from Berwick-on-Tweed, in a historical part of Northumberland, close to the Scottish border. Spittal boasts one of the finest natural beaches on the spectacular Northumberland coast, part of the area designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and overlooks the estuary. On higher ground, there can be some wonderful views of the Holy Island just off the coastline and Bamburgh Castle is just a short distance away.
