Southminster is a town in the Maldon district of Essex, on the Dengie peninsula. It lies about three miles north of Burnham-on-Crouch and fifteen miles south-east of Maldon town. Dengie 100 is a peninsula of land to the east of Chelmsford bounded by the North Sea to the east, The River Crouch to the south and the River Blackwater to the north. A market was recorded in Southminster in 1218, which is the earliest recorded market in the Dengie 100. The market closed in 1937 leaving only the auction house in Station Road.
