The little village of Sinnington sits by the A170 road between Thirsk and distant Scarborough, just a few miles to the west of Pickering. This is the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park, with the wonderful scenery around it that would be expected of such a location. Sinnington is an ancient settlement, pre-Norman, as is proved by an examination of the church. All Saints, externally a late Norman building of delicate elegance, contains pieces of Saxon and Norse origin, hogsback gravestones and old crosses.
