Shapwick is a rural village which forms part of the Hundred of Whitley. The village situated in the Sedgemoor district of Somerset, on the Somerset Levels. It can be found just off the A39 Bath Road, to the West of Glastonbury. The particular layout of its roads and streets has led academics to label it 'the typical English village'. Half a mile up a winding lane you can find Shapwick House, a magnificent Tudor Manor House converted to a Hotel and set in seven acres of grounds amidst the beautiful Somerset countryside.
