The East Riding village of Sewerby sits between the pleasant seaside resort of Bridlington, and the dramatic coastline of Flamborough Head with its famous lighthouse and the highest cliffs on the East Coast. Sewerby looks out to Bridlington Bay, where in 1779 John Paul Jones brought the American War of Independence to Britain, attacking the navy just offshore here, watched by a fascinated and frightened crowd on the cliffs. While Bridlington and Flamborough offer plenty of attractions within a short drive or even a stroll from Sewerby, the village has its own great draw for visitors, namely Sewerby Hall.
