Just a mile or so northwest of England’s brewing capital, Burton, Rolleston is easily reached via the nearby A50 cross-country route or the A38 running from the edge of the Birmingham conurbation to Derby and beyond. The village was reputedly settled in the 7th century, and still has several ancient elements to it including a pub which may well date back to the 11th century, and the 13th century church of St Mary’s, though an earlier incarnation predated that pub. For several centuries the Mosley family of Oswald fame (or infamy) were lords of the manor.
