Regent's Park is a great favourite with Londoners, having something to offer everyone, young and old, in glorious surroundings. The park, designed in 1811 by royal architect John Nash, has at its heart Queen Mary's Gardens, created a little later and contained within the Inner Circle. Here, the shrubs and flowerbeds are beautifully planted and colour co-ordinated to provide a striking year-round display, while the rose garden scents the air with 400 different varieties. Also in the Gardens are the Open Air Theatre, famous for its Shakespearian productions throughout the summer, and a lake where children love to feed the waterfowl.
