Reeth is a lovely Swaledale market town with a population of just 750 people. Situated at the northern end of the Yorkshire Dales National Park where Arkengarthdale and Swaledale meet to the east of Calver Hill, it is easy to access, just a 15 minute drive from Scotch Corner on the A1. Originally a Saxon settlement, Reeth used to be a lead mining town, and at one time was a hand-knitting centre too. Both activities are featured in the Swaledale Folk Museum, but check about opening times if you plan a visit.
