Redbourn is a village on Watling Street, near St Albans and Harpenden, with the M1 running close by and having a population of 6,000. It has Saxon origins and its church of St Mary is Norman, with the village taking it’s name from the River Red that runs across the common. The village was a popular stage-coach stop having a lot of inns, many of which remain and are still pubs today, most serving real ales and food. The Bull is a fine example of a traditional English pub dating from the 16th century and was used as a filming venue in 2003 for the BBCs Auf Wiedersehen Pet.
