Port Sunlight is a special town in the County of Merseyside in Liverpool, home to fourteen hundred people. One man's dream became reality when William Lever built the town for workers at his Soap Factory. The tree lined streets and interesting architecture remains today, a legacy from a pioneering age. The Lady Lever Art Gallery takes centre stage, and has Chinese porcelain, and fabulous paintings by Turner and Constable. An invitation to visit Speke Hall should be eagerly accepted as the stunning black and white facade only hints of what lies within, or maybe Eastham Woods Country Park will satisfy those who seek carpets of bluebells in the spring, and a chance to stroll along the cliffs with mesmeric views over the Mersey.
