Pembrey in Carmarthenshire is located between Burry Port and Kidwelly overlooking Carmarthen Bay. Its population of approx 4000 residents is swollen by summer visitors, nature lovers and motor sports enthusiasts. Pembrey was a thriving port in the C18th & C19th but the old harbour was abandoned for Pembrey New Harbour later re-named Burry Port. This area has longstanding military links. In the 1960â€™s an attempt to set up a munitions testing range was foiled due to local objections. The site was instead developed as Pembrey Country Park which has spectacular views and an abundance of wildlife.
