The little Teesdale village of Ovington is these days officially in County Durham, but moving borders doesn’t change the soul of a place, and many would still see it as part of North Yorkshire. Situated on the south bank of the Tees Ovington between Barnard Castle and Darlington, Ovington is just a ten minute drive from Scotch Corner on the A1along the old Watling Street (now the A66) and some country lanes. The village then is an easy place to get to and from for travellers wanting to explore the Yorkshire Dales to the south and Wearsdale to the north, or happy to stay in Teesdale itself, or a good place to break a journey to or from Scotland.
