North Shields is a town with an interesting past, on the banks of the River Tyne in North East England, home to over 10,600 people. Famed for it’s Mining, Ship Building and 13th Century Fish Quay, is just eight miles from Newcastle which satisfies the most discerning visitor. Perhaps a good place to start exploring the past is Arbeia Roman Fort which guarded the entrance to the River Tyne just a stone throw from Hadrian’s Wall, nearby Segedunum Roman Fort showcases Roman Baths and an amazing interactive Museum.
