Newby Bridge is one of those small villages that by its location manages to offer a great deal more than would be expected of such a little settlement. Standing just a short distance from the southern tip of Windermere, a stroll will take you to Lakeside Pier, from which steamers head off to Waterhead (a minute from Ambleside) and Bowness, and Windermereâ€™s bright lights. There is a ferry here too taking visitors across to Fell Foot Park, a National Trust property restored to its Victorian splendour, complete with rowing boat hire for a quiet pull on the lake.
