Newbury Park is a residential area of east London, near the Essex border. It has quietly existed as an unsung suburb for years, but it may well gain a higher profile in 2012 when the Olympic Games come to town. Situated near the Stratford Olympic site, which lies to the south west, Newbury Park is an ideal base for visitors. It has few tourist sights of its own - although a 2007 BBC survey named the tunnel-shaped, round-topped bus station as one of Britain's top alternative attractions. Newbury Park, however, offers easy access into both the centre of London and the Essex countryside.
