Tiny Mutford is one of those quiet Suffolk settlements which seem more like a group of houses that just happen to be in the same area, rather than a formal village. It has its church to the north, Mutford Hall to the south, and the little Hundred River (really a stream) to the west. A haven of peace just a mile south of the A146, Mutford is reached via pretty little lanes through the gently rolling farmlands of North East Suffolk. The place has a lot more in common spiritually with rural Beccles, four miles to the west, than bigger neighbour Lowestoft, five miles north east.
