On the north bank of the River Welland lies the historic town of Market Deeping in Lincolnshire. Here, the river forms the border between Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire. The village is situated on the old Roman road of Ermine Street or the A15, right where it meets with the A16. Peterborough is to be around eight miles to the south of the town. It is conveniently situated for access to London and the North of England, via the A1 and A1(M). The town is the second largest of The Deepings and has held a market since at least 1220.
