Macduff is a coastal town on the on the east bank of the Moray Firth on the north-east side of Scotland, situated one mile from Banff separated by a seven arched bridge built in 1799 over the River Deveron, a Burgh of Barony from 1783. Macduff owes its presence to the sea, famous for its harbour and fishing industry. Macduff was previously a settlement known as Doune, which was purchased by William Duff in 1733. The harbour was built in 1760, the town originally comprised of a group of fishermen’s cottages developed by James Duff.
