Lynton is a small North Devon village. It sits 600ft above its coastal neighbour, Lynmouth. The two villages are joined by an innovative cliff railway which has been in operation since 1890. Apart from the relaying of tracks in 1908, the water powered railway runs just as it did when first built. Lynton and Lynmouth were affectionately called “Little Switzerland†By the Victorians. Lynton is an attractive village offering visitors stunning views of the beautiful Devon coastline. For a bracing walk and more amazing views, climb to the top of Hollerday Hill.
