Low Lorton is a quiet little village in one of Lakelandâ€™s less visited areas, a haven for those wanting a peaceful break or some fresh air without being offered Beatrix Potter memorabilia. Set beside the River Cocker (with its salmon and trout) at the end of Lorton Vale the village has the amenities required for a quiet sojourn in beautiful countryside. There is the Wheatsheaf Inn, selling the locally brewed Jennings (in fact until the end of the 19th century the beer was brewed in Lorton itself).
