Lossiemouth is a sea-town in Moray, on the north-east coast of Scotland, situated 5 miles north of Elgin on the south shore of the Moray Firth. Due to its location at the mouth of the River Lossie, Lossiemouth, was developed as a port in the 17th century to service Elgin’s trade although the town was not developed until the 1800’s. The harbour opened in 1835 and Lossiemouth became an important fishing town, the old harbour is now occupied by the yachting marina. Lossiemouth is a traditional fishing town with little cottages, the Fisheries and Communities Museum, a fishing fleet and fish-market.
