This village is located n the county of Derbyshire just to the north of the River Trent and south west of Nottingham and a village that can trace its history back to before the time of the Domesday Book, in fact there was a settlement here in the 7th century. Up until the 19th century though Long Eaton remained very much an agricultural settlement and it was then that the Industrial Revolution was to have an impact. Throughout its history the area had been well known as a centre for lace production and quarrying however with the coming of the railways and the canal network the town expanded rapidly, its population around 1870 was some 3,000 people and by the 1900’s the population count was a staggering 20,000 people.
