Lochgoilhead is a small village at the northern end of Loch Goil opposite Inveraray in Argyll and Bute, Scotland, located approximately a two hours drive north of Glasgow. The first settlement to the area dates from c1200 when the historic Carrick Castle was built; it was once the hunting lodge of James IV, the ruins are five miles south of the village. Lochgoilhead is situated amongst spectacular scenery created by the lochs and mountains; it is a popular tourist resort with a hotel, a caravan and camping site, leisure centre and holiday village.
