Llantrisant just off the M4 Motorway (junction 34) was chosen as the â€œnewâ€ site for the Royal Mint displaced from London to Wales between 1968 â€“ 75. It used to be possible to visit the Mint to see your money being made but sadly â€œHealth and Safetyâ€ considerations have stopped these visits. It is still possible to purchase commemorative coins etc.at the giftshop, near the entrance. This lovely hilltop village should be better known though, for its range of art and craft activities.
