Laugharne, positioned between St Clears to the east and Pendine to the west is, perhaps, most famous for The Boathouse - home of bad boyo poet and playwright Dylan Thomas author of Under Milkwood and a Childâ€™s Christmas in Wales who called it â€œ this timeless, mild ,beguiling island of a town .â€œ Thomas set up home here with his wife Caitlin and is buried in the annexe to the 13th century churchyard, his grave marked by a simple white wooden cross. Nearly every pub in Laugharne claims to have been Thomasâ€™ favourite and it makes a pleasant afternoon sampling the rival merits of each - though Brownâ€˜s Hotel.
