Laugharne, positioned between St Clears to the east and Pendine to the west is, perhaps, most famous for The Boathouse - home of bad boyo poet and playwright Dylan Thomas author of Under Milkwood and a Child’s Christmas in Wales who called it “ this timeless, mild ,beguiling island of a town .“ Thomas set up home here with his wife Caitlin and is buried in the annexe to the 13th century churchyard, his grave marked by a simple white wooden cross. Nearly every pub in Laugharne claims to have been Thomas’ favourite and it makes a pleasant afternoon sampling the rival merits of each - though Brown‘s Hotel.
