The town of Kingswinford is to be found just of the A491 south of Birmingham and to the west of Dudley, it is a town that can trace its history back to Roman times at which time the area was heavily forested. Mentioned in the Domesday Book the village remained small until around 1290 when it is recorded that coal mining was being undertaken in the area, by the 1800’s coal mining and ore extraction from the area required the new technology to be made available and the railways came to Kingswinford.
