Situated on the western shores of Strangford Lough in an area of outstanding natural beauty, Killyleagh is a large, friendly village with much to offer. The settlement is dominated by a magical castle with spectacular turrets and battlements, which dates back to the 12th Century. Rebuilt in 1666, the castle remains a private home, but it does occasionally throw open its grounds for concerts and open-air theatre shows. Just outside Killyleagh is Delamont Country Park, which offers lovely rural walks, a kilometre-long miniature railway, boat trips around the Lough, and facilities for camping and caravans.
