The village of Ketton lies in the rural county of Rutland in the East Midlands of England. It is located about three miles west of Stamford, which is in Lincolnshire. It is one of the largest settlements in Rutland; after Oakham, Uppingham and Cottesmore. The modern village of Ketton was made from the merger of what were once the three villages of Ketton, Aldgate and Geeston. From 1894 to 1974 the Ketton Rural District existed, covering the eastern part of Rutland. Ketton Stone is a form of limestone and is quarried locally.
