Inverurie is an ancient town in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, situated 16 miles north-west of Aberdeen where the River Urie meets the River Don. Inverurie’s earliest known charter dates from 1558. Inverurie is well-known for two historic battles; Battle of Inverurie in 1307, where Robert I defeated John Comym the Earl of Buchan and the Battle of Harlaw in 1411. The earliest inhabitants date from the late Neolithic period, with an abundance of standing stones and stone circles across the area.
