Inchture is a beautiful traditional Scottish village in the heart of Scotland, situated between south-east Perth and Kinross and south-west of Dundee on the northern side of the Firth of Tay. The village was once an island in the flooded Carse of Gowrie, the name is derived from the Gaelic ‘island of the tower.’ The village was rebuilt in the 19th century and is a neat red-stone estate type village with an avenue of trees, built in two stages in the 1830’s and 1860’s. The 1830s houses are all single story ranges grouped in three or four dwellings.
