Situated within easy commuting distance of both Bath and Bristol, Holcombe is a small village in the North of Somerset. It is part of the Hundred of Kilmersdon and is six miles South East of Shepton Mallet. Its history is both interesting and slightly macabre, the original medieval village having been buried following the plague. The parish church survives from that period and is surrounded by mounds, which serve as a reminder of the events of the past. It is believed that the nursery rhyme 'Ring a Ring o' Roses' originated in Holcombe.
