An attractive market town nestled in a curve of the River Blyth, Halesworth was a major centre for malting and brewing in the 19th C. There are many fine buildings, including the carved Gothic House, a Tudor Rectory and Elizabethan almhouses. St. Mary’s church has an unusual 18th C. alter, and a memorial to a local father and son who both became directors of Kew Gardens in London.
Take time to explore the town centre and visit the award-winning pedestrianised Throughfare, which has a wide range of shops as well as a good choice of places to eat.
