One of the prettiest villages in a particularly pretty part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Grassington has a huge amount to offer visitors both within the village (technically a town, as it was granted a market charter in 1282) and without. There are good facilities in Grassington, thanks largely to its year round tourist trade. There are several pubs, a restaurant, shops and cafes. For those who have never had the opportunity to try the fiendishly tricky game of crown green bowls (like lawn bowls but on ground with a rise in the middle and more borrows than a St Andrew’s green) there is a club able and willing, fixtures permitting, to hire the equipment to those ten years and older with suitably flat shoes.
