Elderslie is an ancient village in Renfrewshire in west central Scotland, situated between Paisley and Johnstone. The village is famous as the reputed birthplace of William Wallace c1270 and home to the well-known Stoddards Carpets, a famous client was the Titanic Ocean liner. An example of the fine quality carpets can be seen in nearby Culzean Castle. Archaeologists have found relics dating back to the Neolithic period. To the south of the village on the hillside stands an ancient ritual standing-stone.
