Dungannon is an elegant hilltop market town in County Tyrone. It’s Irish name is Dun Cain meaning pleasant fort, and indeed it makes an attractive visit. A 1.5 mile heritage trail circling the centre of town highlights the imposing Georgian and Victorian architecture, the starting point being Market Square. If shopping is your thing head to the designer outlet village, The Linen Green, on the site of the old Moygashel Linen Mills on the outskirts of town. Be sure to stop at the Visitor’s Centre that documents the history of the Company and the important role it played in Irelands industrial heritage.
