Dummer is one of the smallest villages in the County of Hampshire and at last count it was suggested that the local population may be as small as just 370 residents! The M3 motorway runs close to the village and this facilitates access to the larger towns around with Basingstoke, the administrative centre, just to the north of Dummer. Dummer had its first church in 1086, All Saints, and the oldest part of the church in existence today is the south doorway which dates from the 12th century when it was first chosen as a settlement, whilst the pulpit is said to date back to 1380.
