The market town of Dronfield is on the edge of the Peak District National Park in the North East of Derbyshire. Dronfield lies on the River Drone, from which it takes its name, between Sheffield and Chesterfield. Dronfield is situated close to the Pennines and many of Derbyshire's finest beauty spots, making it well worth a visit. It is known to have existed since before the Doomsday Book, and to have suffered at the hands of William the Conqueror as he sought to bring order to the Northern parts of England.
