The old market town of Dolgellau lies in the southern part of Snowdonia National Park at the head of the magnificent Mawddach Estuary. Dominated by the beautiful peak of Cader Idris, it has a stunning backdrop of mountains and spectacular scenery. The distinctive streets are lined with listed stone buildings of architectural interest. There is a wide range of shops, numerous places to stay and a variety of pubs and restaurants.

The area is steeped in history from Celtic to Roman and later the Quaker movement.
