Dalwhinnie is a tiny village and the highest in the Highlands of Scotland at 358m above sea-level. Dalwhinnie is situated north of Drumochter at the head of Loch Ericht and Glen Truim. Dalwhinnie has been in existence since c1700, when an inn was built to serve the Highland Cattle drovers on there way to the market in Crief. General Wade was responsible for building the first road here in 1724; this road was the predecessor to today’s A9. Dalwhinnie has also had railway station on the Highland Main Line from Perth to Inverness since 1863.
