Craven Arms is to be found in South Shropshire surrounded by hills with the River Onny close by and the town couldn’t be easier to find as it lies on the A49 between Shrewsbury and Ludlow. Set as it is in the rolling countryside it is understandable that its economy was originally based on the trade of sheep, then with the coming of the railways (Shrewsbury to Ludlow) Craven Arms grew in importance through Victorian times to become one of the largest stockyards in the country at that time. Even though today the stockyards and trade in sheep has all but gone one thing remains, that is the picturesque surroundings in which Craven Arms finds itself.
